Danbury Hospital - Danbury, Connecticut

Description:

Danbury Hospital is the area’s largest employer with close to 3,000 employees.  It is comprised of numerous buildings, forming a complex campus-type environment with over 450 beds.  The oldest building was built approximately 100 years ago.  The majority of the building exteriors are face brick and the roofs low pitched, except for the Tower building which is clad with metal panels and has precast concrete terraces.

Danbury Hospital initially contacted a structural engineer to perform a structural study of the exterior walls and roofs of the older buildings.  This engineer, familiar with our reputation and quality of expertise in this field, contacted Martin A. Benassi, AIA - Architect LLC to analyze the architectural issues.

Our firm surveyed the 14+ buildings with 60 individual roofs (172,330 square feet - almost 4 acres), as well as nearly two miles of exterior elevations with heights varying from 4 to 13 stories.

As a result of our survey, the hospital was provided with recommendations, a maintenance timeline, and related cost estimates to facilitate their fiscal and maintenance planning needs.
