DESPP State Police Troop L


The barracks, garage, and carport at the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) State Police Troop L in Litchfield, Connecticut had deteriorated roofs which needed to be replaced.

The firm of Martin A. Benassi, AIA - Architect, LLC was retained by the State of Connecticut to provide consulting services related to the roof replacement on all three existing structures.  With the barracks housing the main Regional 911 Dispatch Center, it was imperative to coordinate roofing work to be the least disruptive as possible to the 24/7, 365 operation.

Scope of Work included:

  • Removal of existing slope and flat roofing systems down to the original substrate.
  • Removal and replacement of existing deteriorated roof decking.
  • Installation of new roofing membrane and insulation.
  • Removal of existing skylights on flat and sloped roofs; installation of framing, decking, new roofing and insulation.
  • All new Kynar finish on gutters and downspouts on the barracks and garage.
  • All previously painted wood trim was wrapped with Kynar finished sheet metal.
  • All new lightning protection.
  • Replacement of all flashing.
